A centerline rumble strip project is scheduled to begin Monday (July 7, 2025) on segments of U.S. Highway 83 and U.S. Highway 212 between Onida and Gettysburg.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation says on U.S. Highway 83, the project will go from one mile north of Onida to the west junction of U.S. Highway 212 and Highway 83. On Highway 212, the project will go from one half mile west of the west Highway 83 and Highway 212 junction, to one mile west of Gettysburg.
When work is in progress, motorists can expect 15 minute delays. Traffic will be reduced to one lane around the work zone, which will be controlled using flaggers and a pilot car.
Grinding work on the $6.6 million project is anticipated to be complete by the end of July. That work will be followed by the placement of pavement markings.
