Yes, you read that correctly! Steve Steele, myself, the Oahe Zap coaching staff and a few other willing players are going to raise money for the Stanley County Gold program by taking pledges and playing 108 holes of golf in one single day. On July 28th, we will tee off the first tee box at Dunes Golf with the goal of completing six full rounds of golf before the sun sets on Monday evening. Steve Steele got the idea from another fundraiser that was done in the state where that group played 100 holes in a single day, but Steele said to himself, “Why stop there?”
100 holes would mean you complete a little over 5.5 rounds of golf, but Steele couldn’t fathom starting a round of golf and cutting it off early. So, his solution was to make it so that sixth and final round would be complete, rounding out the hole total to 108. As famed CEO of Nike Phil Knight once said, “Your job isn’t done until the job is done.” And Steele is putting that philosophy to practice by making sure that no round goes unfinished for Stanley County Gold.
The goal of the fundraiser is to assure the Stanley County afterschool program has the proper funding after those funds are being threatened by a bill in Washington. Steele has promised that no matter what, the afterschool program will be up and running at the start of the school year, so the kids will have a program regardless. However, this effort will make sure there are enough spots for all the kids that want (and need) a safe place to be with friends after the school day concludes. If you would like to get involved or make a contribution, you can follow the prompt on the flyer at the top of the page.
