The research room for the South Dakota State Archives has reopened (July 2025) for in-person researchers.
Located in the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre, the research room provides access to numerous archival and map collections, library books and over 150 rolls of newspapers on microfilm. It’s open Monday through Friday, by appointment. The morning session runs from 9am-noon and the afternoon session runs from 1-4:30pm. It is closed for all state holidays.
State Archives staff are preparing for next month’s Archives Month activities. The theme for the celebration is “Back in Business.”
