Some of the tables and cabinets still need to be put in, but the remodeled Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area building in Pierre is open.
Club director Becky Spoehr says the new space allows them to offer more options for kids.
Capital Area Counseling is the entity that oversees the club’s operations. Chief Executive Officer Amy Iversen-Pollreisz says having a connection to the club allows them to catch potential mental health issues at an earlier age than they may normally be noticed.
Spoehr explains what the process is once a child comes in the door.
She says packets of information are available for parents starting today (Aug. 7).
The Boys and Girls Club of the Capital Area is still looking for part-time staff. More information is available on their website or by calling the club at 605-224-8699.
