Pierre following up chip sealing with fog sealing on various streets

The City of Pierre Street Department has started (Sept. 10, 2025) to apply a fog seal to recently chip-sealed streets throughout the community.

Fog sealing is a protective layer of oil placed on top of chip-sealed roads. It helps lock the chips in place, reduces dust and extends the life of the roadway surface.

Crews will post “No Parking” signs in advance on streets scheduled for fog sealing, and work is expected to move quickly once started in each area. While the project is underway, drivers should expect temporary lane restrictions and minor traffic delays. No full street closures are anticipated.

The City appreciates the public’s cooperation and patience while this important maintenance is completed.
