Today (Oct. 1, 2025, from 8-10am), contracted crews will install rumble strips along East 4th Street in Pierre.
This safety project is designed to alert drivers who drift from their lane and reduce the likelihood of crashes on this heavily traveled road. People driving in that area should watch for crews/equipment or consider taking an alternate route.

Also today (Oct. 1), South Charles Street in Pierre will be completely closed to traffic between West Dakota Avenue and West Sioux Avenue as crews install new water infrastructure and begin the full street rebuild.
The closure is necessary to safely complete underground utility work and prepare the roadway for reconstruction. These improvements are part of the City’s investment in reliable water service and long-term street infrastructure.
Pierre City Officials appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as these critical infrastructure upgrades are completed.
