The emergency water restriction put into effect last week (Oct. 9, 2025) in Fort Pierre has been lifted (Oct. 11, 2025). The City thanks residents for their cooperation while the restriction was in effect.
Oct. 9, 2025:
An emergency water restriction has been put into effect in Fort Pierre (Oct. 9, 2025, around 1pm CT) and it will remain in effect until further notice.
Information from the City Office says the Mni Wiconi Rural Water System is fixing a leak on its Core line so Fort Pierre is limited to one reservoir. Absolutely no lawn watering is allowed until the restriction is lifted. Additionally, the Fort Pierre City Office asks residents and businesses to conserve water by limiting laundry washing and other high water use activities, again, until the water restriction is lifted.
