A 20 year old man from Pierre faces charges after the vehicle he was driving became stuck along 4th Street in Pierre early Friday morning (Nov. 7, 2025, at 4:13am).
Information from the Police Department says officers on patrol located a vehicle that had gone off 4th Street near the entrance to Mickelson Pond. The vehicle had become stuck in a marshy area and was found to be unoccupied.
Through speaking with witnesses and evidence found in the vehicle, officers determined that Jarrett Howe was the driver of the vehicle. While investigating that crash, officers were dispatched to a separate call advising that Howe was attempting to steal a hitch from a vehicle.
Officers executed a search warrant at Howe’s residence and found him inside. During the course of the arrest, Howe did not obey orders and kicked an officer. Howe was placed under arrest and charged with obstructing an officer, simple assault against law enforcement, intentional damage to property, trespassing, driving while suspended, leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with a motor vehicle, and possession of tobacco under the age of 21.
Howe was taken to the Hughes County Jail.
