The new High Plains Processing plant is picking up a head of steam in its first months of operation.
The state rail authority has approved an additional $5.7-million in low interest loans to expand the plant’s rail capacity.
Mitchell Development Corporation CEO Mike Lauritsen says it’s the kind of development that brings outside money into the local economy.
Lauritsen says the plant is making a difference for area soybean producers.
Once fully operational, the facility will handle nearly 150 rail cars per week. The plant also provides about 100 jobs for the area.
