The group that submitted the winning entry for the Winner Region in the South Dakota Department of Transportation’s annual Snowplow Naming Contest had the opportunity to “meet” the piece of equipment Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 17, 2026).
The Jones County Preschool class entered the name Scoopy Scoopy Doo, which was eventually selected by SDDOT employees as the winning entry for that region. The class created their own rendition of the Scooby Doo theme song and their teachers designed special t-shirts for the students to wear when they met the snowplow that carries the name the class submitted.
Gabriel Ellendorf is the driver of Scoopy Scoopy Doo, which is based at Murdo Shop 394.
According to SDDOT, all previously named snowplows are in still being used within their working fleet of plows across the state.
