The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we do just about everything including how we do festivals. This years South Dakota Festival of Books will be going totally virtual instead of the common in person festival.
For the past 18 years, this festival has brought, readers, and writers together to discuss literature. Normally there are around 100 presenters, but this year, there are only around 60.
Presenters will talk about books, teach workshops and answer questions on Zoom throughout the festival that kicks off on October 1st, 2020. This multiple day event continues throughout the month of October on Zoom.
Some of the presenters that will be apart of this years festival are Max Brooks, Angelica Shirley Carpenter, Robert Dugoni, Karl Marlantes, Sally Roesch Wagner and more.
Each year, organizers of the festival pick a book for children and adults to read as a common feature of the festival. This years book is “Unfollow: A Memoir of Loving and Leaving the Westboro Baptist Church,” by Megan Phelps-Roper.
