As a way to ensure voters have secure, convenient options for the June 2, 2026, primary election, eight South Dakota counties have set up satellite voting locations and three of those sites are in the central part of the state.
The additional voting sites can be found in Lyman, Jackson, Todd, Bennett, Buffalo, Lawrence, Oglala Lakota and Pennington Counties. Voters are encouraged to check with their local county auditor or the Secretary of State website for specific locations, dates, and hours of operation for those sites.
The voter registration deadline in South Dakota is 15 days prior to the election you wish to vote in. To be eligible to vote in the June primary, voter registration must be completed by May 18, 2026, at 5:00 pm local time.
Secretary of State Monae Johnson says voter registration in South Dakota is handled at each county auditor’s office or it can be done at one of the following locations:
- Driver’s license exam stations,
- Public assistance agencies providing food stamps, Medicaid, TANF, or WIC,
- Department of Human Services offices that provide assistance to the disabled,
- Military recruitment offices,
- The Secretary of State’s Office,
- Municipal Finance Office.
