EAGLE BUTTE, SD – Shawn Condon, 41, of Eagle Butte, passed away, Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Cheyenne River Health Center, Eagle Butte.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. MDT, Friday, May 29, 2026, at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in the Eagle Butte Cemetery. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the hall, with a procession from the 4-mile at 4:00 p.m.
Shaun Chayne Condon was born August 24, 1984, in Eagle Butte, SD, to Lynette Condon-Runs After. He grew up in the Eagle Butte community and attended Cheyenne River Head Start and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Schools, where he gained many life-long friends. He didn’t complete high school but went on to obtain his GED certificate.
He worked with the CRST Border Patrol during the COVID-19 pandemic, where they monitored traffic coming in and going out of the CRST reservation boundaries, he also worked as a Transit Driver for the CRST Transportation Department. Shaun also worked at Cheyenne River Housing Authority and was skilled in the plumbing trade, he assisted tenants with plumbing services, always making sure his was complete and to the homeowner’s satisfaction. While Shaun was growing up, he spent a lot of time with the Dale & Eleanor Iron Lightning families. He was like an extra son to them as he was best friends with JC Chavez and Bruno Cournoyer. Shawn spent time with many of his cousins and friends, whom he considered his brothers & sisters and they were all close, always joking around, laughing, and generally having a good time. He enjoyed gambling and won big at different times at the casino. Some of his winnings enabled him to buy himself vehicles and an RV trailer, which he parked outside his mother’s place and was content living in it.
Shaun was a calm person, very easy-going, he was funny and was always respectful. He was Lynette’s only son and the only brother to his sisters, Katie, Rebecca, Cherae, Tiffany, Eliana and Cara, he loved them all very much. Shaun was the proud father of his son, Chyler and stepdaughter, Enaysa; and grandson Ezekiel. He had recently been getting to know his daughter, Jaylynn.
Shaun is survived by his mother, Lynette Condon-Runs After; step-father, Murphy Runs After; sisters: Katie, Rebecca, Cherae, Tiffany, Eliana and Cara; nieces and nephews: Ayden, Xavier, Daniel, Liam, Christian, Kaleigh, Bryson, Daryl, Kazmira, Khloe & Kayson; mother of his son Chyler & stepdaughter Enaysa, Ronette Cook; cousins and their families: Ryan Marrowbone, Dustin Marrowbone, Ashlee Ward, Joseph Condon. Hailee Condon, Elena Condon, Conchita Peralta, Roberta Peralto & Reuben Condon; aunts and uncles: Laudine Condon, Melanie Benoist, Michelle Benoist, Leland Benoist, Nate Benoist, Marc Benoist, Allen Benoist, John Flying By, June Runs After, Kerrie Collins, Kayla Stewart, Melinda Flying By, Jesse Stewart, Maxine Flying By, Susan Flying By, Anthony Flying By, Lindsey Flying By, Cora Flying By, Calvin Flying By, Moses Flying By; grandfather, Russell Benoist; and grandmothers, Betty Handley and Clarice Miner.

Shawn is loved and will be missed by friends and family; we were blessed to have him in our lives.
