Due to the weather the Pierre Outdoor Pool is closed for the night (June 2, 2026).
Additionally, as Summer Recreation programs begin, the City of Pierre Parks and Recreation Department is reminding participants and families about the best ways to stay informed regarding weather-related cancellations and schedule changes.
The safety of participants remains the department’s top priority. Summer Recreation activities may be canceled or modified due to severe weather, lightning, unsafe field conditions, temperatures below 65 degrees, or other weather-related concerns.
Families are encouraged to sign up for the City of Pierre’s text message notification system to receive cancellation alerts directly on their mobile devices. To sign up:
- Visit the City of Pierre website at www.cityofpierre.org.
- Select Notify Me.
- Enter your mobile phone number and click Save.
- Subscribe to Summer Rec Cancellations or Changes.
In addition to text alerts, weather cancellations and program updates will also be posted on the City of Pierre Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
“We want to make sure families have timely and accurate information when weather impacts our programs,” said Recreation Superintendent Cody Peitz. “Signing up for text notifications and following our Facebook page are the best ways to stay informed throughout the summer.”
