A power outage that started around 11:15am Friday (July 31, 2026) has disrupted service to customers in Fort Pierre and some of the surrounding area.
As of 11:45am CT, an official from West Central Electric Cooperative said their system was back online. He said they lost delivery from the Western Area Power Administration– or WAPA– substation for about 30 minutes, which affected
West Central’s Bad River substation.
The status of the outage beyond West Central’s power distribution lines and the cause of the outage aren’t known at this time.
