TAKINI, SD – Benita Belt, 56, of Takini, entered the spirit world, Saturday August 8, 2026, at Monument Health, Rapid City.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MDT, Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Takini School Gym, Takini, SD. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the school, with a procession from the 2-Mile at 4:00 p.m.
Benita was born on January 15, 1970, to Bernard Belt and Celeste Bear Eagle-Belt. She was raised in Bridger on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, where she attended Bridger Day School through the eighth grade before continuing her education at Takini School.
While attending Takini School, Benita participated in shot put and earned first place. She also enjoyed playing chess and proudly won a men’s grass dance competition. Benita graduated from Takini School.
Benita leaves behind her children, Kolton Belt, Toretto Thunder, Lovelynn Thunder, Derrick Star Comes Out, and Clara J. Belt; sisters, Elmira (Connie) Blue Legs, Bonnie Belt, and Celinda Belt; brothers, Bennett Belt, Brent Belt and Brice Belt.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Belt and Celestine (Bear Eagle) Belt; sons, Wyatt Belt and Tristan Last Horse; maternal grandparents, Harry Bear Eagle and Fannie (Hunts Horse) Bear Eagle; paternal grandparents, Ambrose Belt Sr. and Pearl Circle Bear; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Benita’s arrangements.
