PIERRE, S.D. — The Pierre City Commission has approved a contract to update the City’s Comprehensive Plan, which will guide growth, development, infrastructure, housing, economic development, transportation, parks, and quality-of-life priorities from 2027 through 2037.
The contract with Houston Engineering Inc., working with partners Confluence and ETC Institute, launches a community-driven process to help shape Pierre’s long-term vision and priorities.
“Our community’s Comprehensive Plan is our broad, shared roadmap for thoughtful, long-term growth. It helps us identify what we value today, anticipate what we’ll need tomorrow, and guide decisions that ensure Pierre remains vibrant, resilient, and welcoming for years to come,” said Mayor Todd Johnson.
The updated plan will include recommendations, maps, data, and an implementation strategy to guide future City decisions and investments.
