Funeral services for Barbara June Allerdings, 96, of Selby, will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at the Akaska Community Center. Burial will follow at the Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be from 5-7pm, Monday, September 7, 2026, at Kesling Funeral Home. Barbara passed away on Monday, September 2, 2026, at the Bowdle Healthcare Center.

Barbara June (Stradinger) Allerdings was born July 23, 1930 in Gettysburg, SD, to Otto and Carrie (Hart) Stradinger.

Barbara married Elmer Allerdings in Mobridge, SD, on March 13, 1950. Barbara and Elmer raised 5 children on a farm west of Akaska, SD.

Barbara was very involved with 4-H and the Akaska Extension Club. She was a 4-H leader and judge for the Walworth County Achievement Days and at the South Dakota State Fair. She went on many trips with the extension club.

Barbara loved to travel, cook and bake. Her kuchens were the best. She funded her trips by working as a cook at the Mobridge Sale Barn and then as the breakfast cook at the Akaska Bar & Grill. Many people knew her as “Barbie”, “Barb”, or “Bobbi”, and she answered to all of them.

Barbara is survived by her sister, Judy Christman of Selby, and her brother, Donald Stradinger of Truman, AR, her daughters, Cindy Rische (Renee Brannon) of Selby, Debbie Wager (Doug) of Mobridge, and Linda Beaman (Dan) of Selby, son, Danny Allerdings (Elaine) of Hardin, MT, and daughter-in-law, Christie Allerdings wife of late son, Tim, of Cottonwood, AZ. Along with 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Allerdings, parents, Otto and Carrie Stradinger, brother, William Stradinger, and her son, Timothy Allerdings.
