Ramona M. Long Chase/Bruguier, 46, of Eagle Butte, entered the spirit world, Sunday August 23, 2026, at 3:15 a.m. at Monument Health, Rapid City, SD
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MDT, Thursday, September 10, 2026, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cemetery, Cherry Creek. Wake services will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the church with a procession from the 4-Mile at 4:00 p.m.
Ramona Michelle Long Chase was born March 2, 1980, in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to Delvina Morrison and Mathew Bruguier. She grew up in Eagle Butte with her many siblings and later earned her G.E.D. Ramona worked at Hot Stuff Pizza, Taco John’s, and Ampride.
Ramona was a very self-sufficient and independent woman. She was caring, selfless, strong, and lived her life with integrity. She was humble and always willing to help anyone in need. Ramona especially enjoyed doing makeup and spending time with her friends.
Those who knew Ramona always seemed to have a heartfelt, funny, or even crazy story to share about her. Her laughter, helpful nature, and beautiful smile were contagious. Ramona had a love of the color pink and adored Hello Kitty. She was a flower in a windstorm and will be deeply missed.
In her younger years, Ramona embraced her unique personality. She was a self-described “goth” and loved skateboarding. Later, she met the father of her children and became the proud mother of three beautiful children: Julie K. Iron Rope, Stormey Bruguier, and Tyler Bruguier.
In 2015, Ramona met the love of her life, Willard Demery. They had no other children but he loved his stepchildren like they were his own.
Ramona is survived by her children: Julie Iron Rope and Tyler Bruguier; siblings: Richard, Rhea, Arlen and Narcisse Bruguier and Stanley Morrison,
She was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Eugene and Margaret (Janis) Bruguier; daughter: Stormey Bruguier; siblings: Ronda, Delano Bruguier, Merlin, Kenneth, and Ramona Bruguier; cousins: Delbert, Mildred, Roberta, Delma and Merle Bruguier; nieces: Sheyanne and Shawn Bruguier.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Ramona’s arrangements.
