The Pierre Governors played away from the PILC for the first of a few doubleheaders away from home over the next few weeks. Four of the final five of their doubleheader sets will be on the road to be exact, so for the Governor girls, they get to really find out their identity after a blazing hot start.
The girls passed their first road test of this heavy-road schedule to close the year winning Saturday 3-1 over Brandon Valley and improving to 8-0-0 on the season. The three scores came from some of the key players for Kira Swenson as Aubrey Fischer, Devyn Van Roekel and Sophia Brueggeman found the back of the net. Fischer also had an assist on the afternoon along with Lexie Hillmer. All names that have been focal points of this undefeated start.
One unit that has been mission critical in the girls keeping losses of their record has been the Governors defense. The back-line led by Katelyn Taylor and Josephine Wurtz have allowed goalkeeper Emlyn Swanson to play comfortably and consistent, as the Governor girls have yet to allow more than one goal in every match, posting four shutouts, and outscoring their opponents 29-4. Swanson recorded three saves in the win.
The boys would fall to Brandon Valley by a final score of 2-0, falling to 1-5-2 on the year. But they will look to get back on the horse quickly when they go to Tea Area on Tuesday for another opportunity to find their rhythm.
