Brent Conrad Belt was born on September 3, 1977, to Bernard and Celeste (Bear Eagle) Belt at the Indian Health Center in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. He spent his entire life in Bridger, South Dakota. He attended Takini High School, where he participated in school rodeo, graduating in 1999.
After graduation, Brent worked on various ranches. He later worked at Takini School as a maintenance man and night janitor. He also volunteered to drive students for after-school activities and sporting events. During the summer months, Brent worked in Faith, South Dakota, for a construction program.
During this time, Brent met his beloved wife, Terri Red Bear. They were married on July 13, 2012, and together they raised three children: Alika and LaQuan Belt and Dawson Blue Arm.
Brent enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing, hunting, riding his bike, caring for horses, and working on mechanical projects. He also enjoyed sightseeing, collecting Hot Wheels cars and little stuffed animals, and tuning in to KIPI in the early mornings to listen to powwow and country music. He especially loved attending powwows.
Brent enjoyed watching military, cowboy, and comedy movies. He was an early bird who loved sitting outside in the morning before anyone else got up, enjoying his cigarette and morning coffee. He also loved joking and teasing with those around him. His laughter, jokes, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
