MILLER, SD – Eugene Moser, 66, of Miller, formerly of Ree Heights, passed away at his home on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

Eugene was born on September 20, 1960, in Miller, South Dakota, to Elden and Norma (Anderson) Moser. He grew up in Miller before moving to Elkton, South Dakota, and later to his grandpa’s farm in Gann Valley. He attended country school in Gann Valley and schools in Elkton and Ree Heights through the eighth grade. He then attended school in Miller through the tenth grade.
On May 13, 2000, Eugene married Sherry Stone in Ree Heights. They made their home in Ree Heights, where their daughter, Celeste, joined the family on June 26, 2001, followed by their son, Carl, on January 13, 2004, completing their family. Some of Eugene’s proudest moments were the births of his grandchildren, Adrian and Letty.
Eugene was a member of the Ree Heights Fire Department for many years and also served on the town board. He helped guide ambulances in both Ree Heights and Miller. His willingness to help whenever needed will be greatly missed.
A jack-of-all-trades, Eugene was always willing to lend a hand, whether helping area farmers or others in need. Throughout the years, he worked for several farmers, including the Steptoes, Koecks, Iversons, Wesley Yost, and Anderbergs. He also worked for Westcott Construction for more than ten years and helped his parents.
In his free time, Eugene enjoyed hunting, fishing, throwing darts, and race cars. He also liked playing cards, working on puzzles, doing word searches, and watching old Westerns, especially Gunsmoke.
Eugene had many friends throughout his life, including special friends June Van Zee, Alan Adkins, and Jerry Steptoe. He also had many adopted children who held a special place in his life.
He will be remembered by his precious children: Celeste (Gary) of Ree Heights and Carl of Miller; two grandchildren, Adrian and Letty that will miss him dearly; three sisters: Linda Snay of Miller, Cindy Bowar of Alabama, and Barbara (Marlon) Weyand of Miller; two brothers: Larry Moser of Ree Heights and Lawrence (Shannon) Moser of Highmore; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Eugene is preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials or donations to the Ree Heights Fire Department.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Eugene’s arrangements.
