(Pierre, S.D.) – With the November 3rd, 2026 General Election approaching, the South Dakota Secretary of State’s Office encourages voters to confirm their polling location before Election Day. Polling places may differ from locations used in earlier elections.
Voters can check their registration, polling place and available sample ballot information through the Voter Information Portal at https://vip.sdsos.gov/VIPLogin.aspx. Voters with questions may contact their county auditor https://vip.sdsos.gov/CountyAuditors.aspx.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, November 3. Voters should bring an acceptable photo ID, such as a South Dakota driver license or nondriver ID, U.S. government photo ID, tribal photo ID, or qualifying South Dakota school photo ID. A voter who lacks an acceptable photo ID may vote a regular ballot by signing a personal identification affidavit as provided by law.
Voters planning to vote absentee should check the status of their ballot and allow sufficient time for its return. Additional voting information is available at https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/voting/default.aspx.
