Chaske B. Little Sky, 52, of Red Scaffold, entered the spirit world, Monday, October 26, 2026, at his home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MST, Monday, November 2, 2026, at Takini School, Takini, SD. Burial will follow in Little Cemetery, Oglala, SD. A wake service will be 6:00 p.m., Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the school with a procession from the LTM C-Store on Hwy 34 at 2:00 p.m.
“Mato Topa” Chaske Little Sky chose Beau and Mary (Hollow Horn) Little Sky as parents on July 24, 1974, in Eagle Butte, South Dakota.
Chaske attended school in both Takini and Dupree, where he played football. He was a member of the second graduating class of Takini High School. He later returned to Takini, where he taught and coached basketball.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Chaske was a Bigfoot Rider and an A.I.M. activist. He had a passion for playing guitar and riding old Indian motorcycles and enjoyed traveling from coast to coast. His love for riding and his dedication to his family were important parts of his life. Although his earthly journey has ended, his family takes comfort in knowing he is now riding the dirt roads and raising some hell in the spirit world, alongside loved ones who have gone before him.
Above all, Chaske loved his two daughters, his firstborn, Wignunka Little Sky, and his youngest, Evening Star “Baby Chops” Little Sky. He especially enjoyed cruising around with his sidekick and youngest daughter, listening to music and spending time together. He took pride in teaching his daughters important life skills, including fishing, hunting, driving, and how to survive and take care of themselves.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his daughters, Wignunka Little Sky and Evening Star Little Sky; mother, Mary Little Sky; brother, Edsel Little Sky; sister, Aleta Little Sky; aunts: Candance Hollow Horn, Janelle Hollow Horn, Fancee Hollow Horn, Anne Chasing Hawk, Prairie Rose Little Sky-White, Ryanne White, Darian White, Chepa Little Sky, Noami Little Sky, Britney Little Sky, Abby Little Sky, and Norma Rendon; uncles: Zig Hollow Horn, and Marcus Hollow Horn, and all of their Tiospaye.
He was preceded in death by his father, Beau Little Sky; brother, Emmett Little Sky; and grandparents, Pearl Hollow Horn, Emmett Hollow Horn, Dawn Little Sky, and Eddie Little Sky.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Chaske’s arrangements.
