The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning and a winter weather advisory are both in effect in most of central South Dakota until 6pm today (Dec. 23).
Weatherology meteorologist Paul Trambley explains what conditions it takes for a high wind warning to be issued.
Trambley says a winter weather advisory is issued based on “a combination of snow and/or wind.”
Trambley says average highs this time of year in central South Dakota are about 30 degrees with average lows at about 10 degrees. Again, today’s expected high is 24, 25 tomorrow and 43 on Christmas day.
