Funeral services for Peggy Boysen, 64, will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Kennebec Gymnasium, Kennebec, SD with burial to follow at the Kennebec Cemetery, Kennebec, SD.  Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Kennebec Gymnasium, Kennebec, SD.

Peggy Lee Boysen, 64, peacefully took her place in Heaven on Sunday, April 11, 2021.

Peggy ‘Peg’ was born in Chamberlain, SD July 11, 1956 to John and Della (Quillin) Studt.  She grew up on the family farm west of Kennebec, attending school in Kennebec and Presho and graduating from Lyman High School.

On September 22, 1973 she was united in marriage to the love of her life Tim Boysen in Presho.  They made their home two miles east of where Peg grew up on land that was the original Studt home place. Two daughters were welcomed into the family, Dawn in 1974 and Karey in 1976.

Peg started her career in the Abstract business in Kennebec in 1977 and at the time of her death she was working from her home for Stewart Title. She was appointed to the South Dakota Abstracters’ Board of Examiners in the 1980s and served over 20 years.

While she enjoyed her chosen career, home and family was very important to Peg.  Her door was always open to family and friends.  She loved to entertain in her spacious, welcoming home.  She was well known for her love of cooking and she shared her culinary talents with family, friends and neighbors. All were welcomed at her dining room table and no one ever left hungry.  She is best known for her awesome potato salad and ‘award winning’ chili.

Peg’s favorite thing to do on Mother’s Day was going shopping for flowers and spending the day planting them. Other hobbies included collecting antiques, especially green depression glass and making jewelry, particularly rosaries for her grandchildren.

She grew up with a love for the outdoors and that continued throughout her life.  Riding horses and later sitting beside her husband Tim on their wagon were some of her greatest joys. Over the years they participated in Cheyenne Frontier Days Parade in Cheyenne, WY driving a wagon and riding horseback and took part in many wagon trains with family and friends.  She loved to sit in the wagon and enjoy the views whether it was a local ride around their rural home, rides through the Badlands, the Black Hills, and especially their last trip to Texas, where they attended the Hill Country Trail Ride in the Blanko, Texas area.  She traveled many miles in the wagon just enjoying life.

Peg enjoyed assisting Tim, a member of the El Riad Shriners Horse Corps, and they traveled with the Horse Corps to International events in Michigan, Houston, and South Carolina. She also spent many hours making cotton candy at the Shrine Circus held in Sioux Falls, and participated in ‘book club.’ She was a regular at Pinochle Club and Saturday morning coffee hour in Kennebec.

Peg was a proud grandmother, and her eight grandkids meant the world to her. She loved sharing her hobbies and interests with them, supporting their accomplishments and SPOILING them.

Peg is survived by her partner in crime of 47 years, husband and best friend Tim, daughters Dawn (Ron) Hopkins and grandchildren Chase, Emily, Austin, Tristan, of Pukwana and Karey (Dean) Klein and grandchildren Sydney, Jodie, Rylee, Hobie of Dell Rapids. Mother-in-law Charlotte Boysen; siblings Judy Raybon, Bob (Elaine) Studt, Mary Lou (Tony) Urban, Lucy (Kim) Halverson and Lavonne Miller; sisters-in-law Diane Studt, Linda (Dave) Klein, Cheryl (Dennis) Klein, and Deb (Steve) Klein and brothers-in-law Dennis (Carol) Boysen, Kevin (Deb) Boysen, Kelly (Deb) Boysen; many cousins, nieces and nephews and a host of friends she acquired along her journey through life.

Preceding her in death were her parents John and Della Studt, father-in-law Hobart Boysen, brother Roger, brother-in-law Shelton Raybon, nephews Shawn Klein, Jeffery Studt and Skylar Boysen.
