Voters in McLaughlin have rejected an initiated measure that would have banned alcohol sales within the city limits.
The unofficial vote for the measure was 47 votes for and 80 votes against.
The initiated measure would have prevented the City of McLaughlin from selling alcohol at the city owned liquor store and also would’ve prohibited the city from issuing any alcohol licenses to anyone.
McLaughlin is located on the Standing Rock Reservation about ten miles from the North Dakota border in the central part of South Dakota.
