Avera still working on “service disruption” from last week; One of 40 companies affected nationwide

Avera Cancer Institute sites are among 40 health systems nationwide impacted by software issues the company that provides services for the healthcare system’s linear accelerators.

Avera confirmed the “service disruption” with Elekta last week and hoped to have everything to be back up and running early this week. This issue does not impact AveraChart.

Spokesperson for Avera in Pierre Sigrid Wald Swanson says the down time has been extended and it may be later this week before all radiation oncology services are fully functional. She says the first priority is to ensure cancer therapies are continuing safely despite the disruption.
