A 44 year old woman from Fort Pierre has been indicted (June 1, 2021) by a Stanley County grand jury for three counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and THC wax.
One of the charges against Skye Lee Morin includes over 5 grams of methamphetamine in connection with an incident occurring at Morin’s home in January 2021.
States Attorney Tom Maher also filed habitual offender information, which enhances the felony offenses’ classification by two levels, pursuant to state law (SDCL 22-7-8.1). Because of that, Maher says the charge involving more than five grams of methamphetamine is raised from a Class 3 felony to a Class 1 felony. It carries a maximum penalty of 50 years imprisonment and a $50-thousand fine. The other methamphetamine charges and the THC charge carry a maximum penalty of 25 years imprisonment and a $50-thousand fine, per offense.
Morin was released on bond conditions, pending further proceedings in Circuit Court.
