UPDATE (11:45AM)– EVENT CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER
The Pierre Recreation Department and Volunteer Fire Department will host fire hydrant parties Tuesday evenings in July again this year.
Mindy Cheap, City Recreation Superintendent, says the parties will feature oversized sprinklers, water balloons, super soakers and popsicles.
Fire chief Ian Paul says they run the water through the hoses on the fire trucks, then shoot the water in the air to make a monster-sized sprinkler.
All parties will be held from 6–7:30pm.
This is the second summer the recreation department has organized hydrant parties.
The hydrant parties in Pierre will be held:
