A 70 year old man from Fort Pierre was taken by ambulance to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre last night (June 29) after his car hit the bridge over the Missouri River between Pierre and Fort Pierre.
The Pierre Police Department says officers were called shortly after 9pm to a single-vehicle crash at the John C. Waldron Memorial Bridge. The man, whose name has not been released, was driving west on Sioux Avenue and began to cross the bridge when the driver side bumper hit the bridge, and the vehicle crashed.
Charges are pending. The accident is still under investigation.
