No one was home at the time and no surrounding structures were damaged in a house fire late yesterday afternoon in Pierre in the 100 block of Central Avenue (about 4:30pm July 9, 2021).
Pierre Volunteer Fire Department deputy chief Sean Kruger smoke was showing when they arrived.
Kruger says primary damage was contained to the kitchen area.
Several pets were lost and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters were on scene for about 2.5 hours.
Assisting with the response were the Fort Pierre Volunteer Fire Department, Pierre Police Department and AMR ambulance.
