Vehicles, business damaged on S. Pierre Street yesterday afternoon

A couple vehicles and a South Pierre Street business sustained damage in an incident yesterday (July 20, 2021) afternoon.

Information from the Pierre Police Department says a 76-year-old Pierre resident was backing out from a parking spot on the east side of Pierre Street when the person’s foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator. The SUV backed into another vehicle, then ended up crashing into the Alley Exchange on the west side of Pierre Street.

The driver’s name and preliminary damage estimates are not available at this time.
