The Hughes County Commission is considering an ordinance that would change the speed limit on about a one mile stretch of Spring Creek Road.
Currently, the speed limit is 45mph from Highway 1804 to Landing Avenue, where it changes to 30mph from there, west to the Hughes County line.
Commissioner Tom Rounds suggested making the entire 1.2 mile stretch a 45mph zone.
Sheriff Patrick Callahan supports implementing a uniform speed limit on that stretch of road.
The Hughes County Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposed Spring Creek Road speed limit change during its meeting Aug. 16 at 5:30pm.
