With reduced water elevations on Lake Oahe, the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish and Parks says the boat ramp at Chantier Creek Lakeside Use Area is nearing a boat ramp closure.
At 8am CT today (Sept. 15, 2021), Lake Oahe was at elevation 1600.13 M.S.L. If the reservoir drops below 1599, GFP says the boat ramp, located 15 miles northwest of Oahe Dam off SD Highway 1806, will close until water conditions change. If this does happen, the dock will be removed and signs will be posted to alert boaters traveling to the area.
Boaters looking to access this portion of the reservoir are still able to launch at West Shore Lakeside Use Area, East Shore Lakeside Use Area or Spring Creek and Cow Creek Recreation Area boat ramps.
Additional updates will be posted to the Oahe Downstream Recreation Area Facebook page.
