WINNER – As usual, a top-notch running game and solid defense helped Winner to a 52-14 win Friday over Elk Point-Jefferson at Warrior Field in the 11B semifinal round, helping Winner (11-0) advance to its third consecutive championship game, a first in school history. The Warriors will play for a second straight championship and ninth overall on Friday.
Kaden Keiser and Riley Orel each rushed for two scores for Winner and Joey Cole ran for a touchdown and passed to Ethan Bartels for another.
The Warriors’ defense held Elk Point-Jefferson to 163 yards of offense. Winner amassed 455 yards.
Winner now has 23 consecutive wins and 21 in a row at home. The Warriors will meet Bridgewater-Emery/Ethan for the third consecutive season in the 11B title game Friday at 10:00 AM at the DakotaDome in Vermillion. BEE won in 2019, with Winner prevailing in 2020.
