Pierre’s annual Go Green and Clean spring cleanup campaign got an early start last week with several local groups taking advantage of the nice weather.
Pierre parks and recreation director Tom Farnsworth says among scheduled projects are clean up of the Capitol Creek Trail and litter removal from the downtown area and road ditches along arterial roads. He says there are many more projects if there are individuals or groups looking for volunteer opportunities.
If you haven’t yet signed up for a project and are interested in the effort, Farnsworth encourages you to give him a call at 605.773.7407.
The Go Green and Clean campaign is a civic pride effort designed to get the city spruced up for the summer season. Each year for the last nine, dozens of volunteers and volunteer groups have painted public facilities, cleaned up flower beds, cleared litter and otherwise helped make Pierre look its best.
