UPDATE FEBRUARY 7, 2022:
A 51 year old man from Mitchell died early Friday morning (3:30am Feb. 4, 2022) in a one-vehicle crash in Draper.
Preliminary crash information from the South Dakota Highway Patrol indicates Jason Buie was driving a 2020 GMC Equinox northbound on 279th Avenue when it went through the intersection of South Dakota Highway 248 and Cemetery Road. The vehicle hit a stop sign, went off the roadway and struck a grain bin loaded with corn. Both the vehicle and corn started on fire.
Buie was pronounced dead at the scene. Seat belt use is under investigation.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
