Stanley County Commission approves road name change to help increase awareness of new, rural business

UPDATE MARCH 4, 2022:

The Stanley County Commission has approved changing the name of one county road to help customers find a new business that’s located in a rural area.

Maier Meats, LLC is located on 263^rd Avenue, a few miles off of Highways 14/34 between Fort Pierre and Hayes.

County Auditor Phil Burtch says because 14/34 is a Scenic Highway, the business can’t put a sign up along the highway. She says the road will now be renamed 263^rd Avenue/Maier Meats Road.

Burtch says she hopes to have the new street sign up within a month.

MARCH 1, 2022:

The Stanley County Commission meets this evening (March 1, 2022) at 5pm. Among the items on its agenda are consideration of changing the name of one county road to help customers find a new business that’s located in a rural area.

Auditor Phil Burtch says because it’s along a Scenic Highway, Maier Meats can’t put a sign up along the road.

Burtch says 263rd will still remain on the street name.

The Stanley County Commission meeting is held in the Stanley County Courthouse in Fort Pierre.
