WATERTOWN – A slow start left White River behind Friday at the SDHSAA Class B Girls Basketball Tournament.
The Tigers hit only three first-half field goals, trailed by 18 at halftime and were down as much as 28 in a 59-44 loss to Aberdeen Roncalli in the consolation round at the Watertown Civic Arena.
Roncalli (23-2) used bigger size to their advantage, having 18 points from Morgan Fielder, 17 from Olivia Hanson and 16 from Madelyn Bragg. Roncalli shot 46 percent from the field.
Maleighya Estes scored 25 for White River (18-5), who has lost consecutive games for the first time this season.
