RAPID CITY – In a championship game battle of two excellent defensive teams, O’Gorman was better.
The Knights held Rapid City Stevens to 32 percent shooting and had three double-figure scorers Saturday as O’Gorman won its third state championship, defeating Stevens 49-42 in the title game of the SDHSAA Class AA Girls State Tournament at the Ice Arena at the Monument.
Hannah Ronsiek scored 15 points for O’Gorman (20-3). Hannah Friedman scored 12 and Mahli Abdouch had 11.
Bailey Sobczak had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Jayda McNabb scored 11 for Stevens (19-4), who lost in the championship game for the second straight season.
O’Gorman also won championships in 1995 and 2017.

3rd Place – Sioux Falls Jefferson 46, Brandon Valley 42
Jefferson (13-11) finished third in its first state tournament appearance in the first season of the Cavalier program. Cierra Watkins scored 15 for Jefferson and Nancy Peter scored 14 off the bench.
Hilary Behrens scored 13 for Brandon Valley (18-6). Kylie Foss had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
5th Place – Sioux Falls Washington 49, Harrisburg 37
In her last game for Washington (22-2), Gatorade Player of the Year Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda scored 15 with 12 rebounds.
Emilee Boyer scored 10 for Harrisburg (10-14).
7th Place – Rapid City Central 48, Sioux Falls Lincoln 39
Central led by as many as 21 as Josie Hill led the Cobblers (17-7) with 15 points. Sadie Glade scored 12.
Alaina Sorensen led Sioux Falls Lincoln (10-14) with 17 points.
