ABERDEEN – Potter County found out that De Smet is more than just Gatorade Player of the Year Kalen Garry.
Damon Wilkinson, Tory Holland and Garry combined for 55 points Friday as De Smet advanced to its second consecutive championship game with a 67-45 win over Potter County in a semifinal of the SDHSAA Class B Boys State Tournament at the Barnett Center.
Wilkinson led De Smet (24-1) with 20 points, nine rebounds, four blocked shots and two steals. Garry scored 18 with eight rebounds and seven assists. Holland had 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Cooper Logan scored 21 points for Potter County (23-2) with nine rebounds. Grant Luikens had 12 points with 11 rebounds, but managed only 4-of-19 from the field.
De Smet never trailed and jumped out to a 22-6 lead after one quarter. The Bulldogs led by 11 at halftime, 31-20, then had a 16-6 run in the third quarter to put the game away.
