A Fort Thompson man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury.
31 year old Jonathon Coleman pled not guilty.
The Indictment alleges that on July 5, 2021, in Fort Thompson, South Dakota, Coleman assaulted a man, which resulted in serious bodily injury.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 10 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.
The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs – Office of Justice Services, Crow Creek Agency.
Coleman was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial.
