Alan David Red Fox Sr., was born on April 5, 1956, in Pierre, SD to Steve Red Fox and Delphine Dupris-Red Fox. He passed away on October 2, 2021 at the IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte, SD. Alan attended school in Pierre, SD and Eagle Butte, SD. He graduated from Cheyenne-Eagle Butte High School in 1976. He Attended college at Haskell Indian University in Lawrence, Kansas.
He returned home to work various jobs on the Cheyenne River Reservation. He worked construction, Bailiff/Officer for Law Enforcement, and carryout/stocker at Lakota Thrifty Mart. LTM was one of his favorite places too, because of his love to visit and help people. He made many friends while working, one that stood out the most for him was Tyson LaPlante. He said this was one man who believed in him and was always willing to give him a chance, just like his dad did for many.
Alan was an active member at the St. John’s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed attending church with his mom as they looked forward to Sunday’s. The pandemic put a damper on their Sundays until the church started broadcasting services on the radio, you can only imagine their joy with this.
Alan was a huge supporter of the C-EB Braves, especially when it came to watching his grandchildren. He attended faithfully to their events and was beyond proud of their accomplishments. He was always thankful for Missy for taking him around with her, as he was her traveling partner. You could always find him in his favorite spot at the C-EB Gym, which was his mom and dad’s place as well when they were faithful fans of the Braves. This is where you could find him with his pop, popcorn and candy with his buddy Dan Keller.
He loved to cook. His favorite thing was feeding people. He would make his enchiladas and burritos and make his rounds to feed all his friends and family. While making his deliveries, you could always find him with his sidekick Bubba. He always looked forward to working in the cook shack at the CRST Fair and Rodeo.
Thank you to everyone that loved and supported our Dad/Grandpa.
We will be feeding all family and friends at the St. John’s Episcopal Church on October 9, 2021, starting at 11 am to 1 pm. Everyone is welcomed to come get a dish.
