Born on March 29, 1951 in Kadoka SD to Rol and Viola (Freeland) Kebach, Casey grew up in Pierre SD, graduating from T.F. Riggs High School in 1969. After meeting on a blind date the year before, Casey married Mary Mitchell on October 6, 1973, and they made their life together in Pierre where they raised four daughters, Julie, Brandi, Lyndall (Lyndi), and Kari.
Casey loved the country life style and was involved in various aspects of cattle ranching throughout his life, beginning with his time on Baxter and Lyndall Berry’s Double X Ranch in Belvidere SD in the early 1970s. He gained experience with other ranches including the Jones Brothers Ranch in Midland SD and Cherry Brothers Ranch in Ft. Pierre SD, as well as during his time as a Brand Inspector for the State of South Dakota before venturing out to raise longhorn cattle with Rol and run a custom haying and fencing business with Mary and his daughters.
He began his electrical career in 1973 as an apprentice electrician for Ferding (Fjerdingo) Electric. It was under Corey Ferding’s guiding hands that Casey advanced to a Journeyman Electrician and Contractor before he established Kebach Electric, transitioned to the State of South Dakota as a State Electrician, and ended his electrical career as a State Electrical Inspector. Through his role as an instructor of mandatory code classes, Casey influenced the careers of many South Dakota electricians enabling them to maintain their electrical licenses. He received his 25-year membership certificate from the International Association of Electrical Inspectors in 2017, and he was recognized as the South Dakota Electrical Council’s Person of the Year in 2018.
Rol instilled a love of fishing in Casey, which he then passed on to many of his family members. Casey caught a South Dakota trophy Smallmouth Bass in 2006, experienced a Canadian fly-in fishing adventure with his sons-in-law and oldest grandson in 2011, won the “Most Walleye Champion” and “Big Walleye Champion” buckles in 2015, as well as the “Big Walleye Champion” buckle in 2017 with teams of family and friends at the Usta Could Da Rodeo (UCRA) Fishing Tournament at Whitlock Bay.
Casey is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary; daughters Julie (Jeff) Kebach-Jackson (Kansas City MO), Brandi (Shane) Jackson (Kansas City MO), Lyndi (Chad) Bierman (New Virginia IA), and Kari Kebach (Longmont CO); grandchildren Jake, Elyse, Elijah, Will, Evelyn, and Nathan; brother Larry (Val) Brown (Faith SD); sister Carol Hendrickson (Hermosa SD); and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
