LITTLE EAGLE, SD – Jason Iron Wing, 29, of Little Eagle, passed away Sunday May 31, 2026, in McLaughlin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. CDT, Monday, June 8, 2026, at the White Horse Community Center, White Horse, SD. Burial Will follow in the Emmanual Episcopal Cemetery, White Horse. Wake services will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, June 7, 2026, with a procession from the bridge east of White Horse at 4:00 p.m.
Jason Paul Iron Wing was born to Debbie Rousseau and Arlen Iron Wing in Pierre, SD on March 13, 1997. He lived in Whitehorse, SD until he was 3 years old. In September 2000, Jason and his family would relocate to Tacoma, Washington. He then moved back to South Dakota, where he would attend Timberlake Elementary School. He continued to attend Timberlake School even after moving to the country near Whitehorse in 2005. In 2008, Jason and his family moved to Mobridge, where he met his best friends–Eric, Donte, Sam, and Killian–at Mobridge Junior High School. In 2010, he moved to Rock Creek and attended McIntosh High School until his senior year. He transferred to McLaughlin High School his last year and graduated from there in 2015.
After high school, Jason held various jobs. In 2019, he worked at Prairie Knights Casino, where he would meet Marissa Kills In Water. Jason then started working at Grand River Casino as a Dealer and later as a Pit Boss. In 2021, he reunited with Marissa. In June of that year, his favorite person came into the world, his son Atreus. Jason continued working at Grand River Casino until his passing in 2026.
Jason engaged in various hobbies throughout his life. When his friends were around, he would run around town skating and taking part in many adventures. Family time was often spent playing Yahtzee, going on long road trips, and gambling. He spent much of his time with Atreus teaching him to play video games, watching cartoons, and being the best dad in the world. In his alone time, he would read, listen to music, and draw. He thoroughly enjoyed interacting with customers and coworkers at his job.
Jason is survived by his son, Atreus Iron Wing; mother, Deborah Rousseau; grandmother, Faye Rousseau; sisters, Lyric (Drew) Iron Wing and Abby Iron Wing; nieces, Raven Frazier, Maliyah Rousseau, Malania Rousseau; girlfriend, Marissa Kills In Water; stepsons, Franklin Kills In Water Jr. and Brayden Kills In Water; aunts: Elaine Littlebear, Rhonda Swan, Lisa (Shawn) Bambas; uncles: Lawrence Rousseau, Francis Rousseau Jr., Donnie (Ester) Swan; cousins: Danielle Littlebear and baby, Shelby (Kansas) Littlebear and baby, Philip Littlebear and family, Peyton (Gregg) Littlebear, Camryn Littlebear and family, Chance Littlebear, Athen Littlebear, Ryatt Littlebear, Erin (Ben) Mckee, Kellon Lawrence, Chazz (Bella) Gabe, Warren Swan Jr. and baby, Isabella Swan, Selena Swan, Timothy Swan, Samatha Bambas, Billy Swan, Megan Swan and family, Missy Swan and family, Amanda Jamerson, Jeremy Rousseau(and family, Ryan Rousseau, Maria Rousseau and family, Alaina (Bradley) Rousseau and baby, Aliyah Rousseau, Jakolby Rousseau and baby, Tate Swan, Justin Shoestring, Marie Shoestring and family, Liza Lawrence and family, Nicole White Eagle and family, and Tammie Big Eagle and family; his cat, Sox; and any family members we may have missed.
Jason is preceded in death by his grandpas, Francis Rousseau Sr. and Robert Iron Wing; grandma, Arlene Iron Wing; step-dad, Todd Shoestring; father, Arlen Iron Wing; uncles, Warren Swan and Stewart Swan; aunts, Valarie Iron Wing, Lucy Iron Wing, and Robbie Iron Wing; favorite cousin, Alethea Littlebear; cousin, Donnie Swan Jr.; and other relatives that we may have forgotten to include.
