
PIERRE, SD – Lana Dee Heitz (Sharp), 59, of Pierre, South Dakota, passed away on June 19, 2026. Born on August 17, 1966, in Murdo, South Dakota to Marvin and Mona(Davenport) Sharp. Lana lived a life filled with love, dedication, and passion for her family and the things she cherished most.
Lana grew up in Murdo, where she attended grade school and high school, graduating in 1984. She went on to further her education at Black Hills State University. Her professional life was marked by her expertise and success as an accountant. For 15 years, she served as Controller for CHS Midwest Cooperatives in Pierre, South Dakota. In recent years, Lana transitioned to working as a Senior Accountant for various companies, a decision that allowed her to spend more time with her beloved husband, children, and grandchildren.
Lana’s children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a constant presence at their activities and events, always offering support and encouragement. Her love for sports extended beyond the sidelines—she was an avid spectator and a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.
On October 20th, 2016, Lana married the love of her life, Norman Heitz. Their union was one of deep affection and partnership—a bond that radiated warmth to everyone around them. Their shared adventures were filled with love and laughter as they embraced life together.
Lana’s heart also belonged to the ocean. She found peace and happiness during winters spent in Naples, Florida—a dream fulfilled when she and Norm established a home there. Naples is no longer just a city she often spoke of, but an everlasting memory now rooted in her family. Together they enjoyed motorcycle rides, walks on Naples’ white sandy beaches, traveling adventures, and creating treasured memories with their grandchildren during many sleepovers.
A gifted musician with a remarkable talent for singing and playing the piano, Lana shared her love for music by teaching piano lessons and singing at local church services. Her musical contributions brought joy to many and left a lasting impression on those who heard her perform.
Lana will be remembered for her big heart and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched through her kindness, talents, and steadfast support.
Family was the cornerstone of Lana’s life. She is survived by her devoted husband, Norm Heitz; her children: Dusty Waldron (Deanna) of Pierre, South Dakota; Zane Frederick of Beemer, Nebraska; and Lacey Stasch (Bryce) of Yankton, South Dakota; as well as her cherished grandchildren: Emma, Easton, Evan, Summer, Bradley, Charlie, and Penny. Lana also leaves behind her mother, Mona Sharp of Pierre; her brothers: Gus Sharp (TJ) of Havre, Montana; Guy Sharp (Marge) of Pierre; and Joe Sharp (Jackie) of Centerville, Iowa. Additionally, she is survived by her in-laws: Brenda Castaldo (Ken) of Springfield, Missouri; Lurlene Klein (Phil) of Brighton, Colorado; Tamera Heitz-Peek of Bolivar, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Marvin Sharp and her parents-in-law Maureen and Art Heitz.
May Lana’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her. A Visitation will be held on June 26, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with Prayer Service to follow at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre, SD. A Funeral Service will be held on June 27, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Pierre, SD. Friends and family are invited for a light treat and coffee following the service. A private burial ceremony will be held at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche at a later date.
