SPEARFISH, SD – Scott Wallace, 48, of Spearfish, SD, died on Thursday, April 30, 2026 in Spearfish.

Funeral service will be at 11:00am on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre, SD with a visitation starting at 10:30am.

Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Pierre.

Scott Douglas Wallace was born January 20, 1978 in Pierre, South Dakota. He attended school in Pierre, graduating from Riggs High School in 1996.

Scott joined the Army National Guard 200th Engineer Company (MRBC), Pierre SD. He graduated from Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. During his 16 years in the National Guard, he deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Iraq 2003 – 2004 and Afghanistan 2009 – 2010, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Scott attended one year at Black Hills State University, Spearfish SD. His early employment years were at Lumber Mills in the Black Hills area. He has been a heavy equipment operator since 2008 at Peabody North Antelope Rochelle Mine near Gillette Wyoming.

Scott’s special Interests include hunting, skiing, pinochle, cross-word puzzles, reading, football, family and friends. He was a loyal fan of the San Francisco 49er’s football team, to the point of attending their last game played at Candlestick Park, in 2013. He especially cherished the years where he hosted family togetherness at his home during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Scott is survived by parents Don and Peggy Wallace of Pierre SD, brother Eric Wallace and partner Heather Buntain and family Leah & David of Rapid City SD, Nephew Hayden Wallace of Sioux Falls SD, Sister Lisa (John) Peary, nephews Michael Peary, Matthew Peary, niece Morgan Peary of Brookings SD.

He was preceded in death by grandparents Harley & Hazel Wallace of Pierre, Grandfather Robert Kaiser of Pierre, Aunt Helen Wallace of Pierre, Uncle Gary Wallace of Pierre, Uncle Scott Dowling of Draper SD.
