Troy L. Anderson was born February 26, 1959, in Mobridge, SD, to Lloyd and Charlotte Anderson. He graduated from Mobridge high school in May of 1977. As soon as he could he joined the U.S. Army at the age of 17, by way of the delayed entry program and was in boot camp a month after graduation. He spent most of his enlisted time in Korea, Germany and Oklahoma before being honorably discharged and returning home in 1982. When he returned home, he began his law enforcement career. He spent the first nine years as a police patrolman in his hometown then relocated to Chewelah WA., where he was named Chewelah Police Chief in September of 2001 after 10-1/2 years in the department, most of which serving as the CPD Sergeant. He retired from the CPD after a total of over 33 years between the Mobridge and Chewelah Police Departments. He also retired from the U.S.P.S.
Troy lived life with an assertive and stoic demeanor that was immovable yet always compassionate. The confidence he possessed was leaned on by so many. He never complained and always had advice, words of encouragement or sometime a good joke because that’s what was truly needed. He embodied his faith and made sure to pass on the importance of Christ to his children. The love he had for his family, he cherished until the very end.
Troy enjoyed collecting many different things including sports cards and comic books among many other interesting relics. He and his wife Lisa enjoyed camping and loved spending time with their family. He was a very loving and supportive father and grandfather; he would attend as many sport functions and other extracurricular activities as possible.
