(WNAX)- A bill to legalize the growth, production and processing of industrial hemp has been introduced in the South Dakota legislature.
Representative Caleb Finck is one of HB1191. He says the state Ag Department would set up the guidelines.
Finck says they probably can’t get all the details done in time for this growing season.
Finck says they believe the state needs to move quickly.
HB1191 has a wide range of bi-partisan sponsors including District 23 legislators Spencer Gosch, John Lake and Justin Cronin; District 24 representative Tim Rounds and District 26 legislators Troy Heinert and Shawn Bordeaux.
The bill is scheduled for a hearing in the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee tomorrow (Thurs.) morning.
